Doggie self-esteem

My buddy's roommate had a kitten names Tina. When Tina went in to get fixed, they found out she was a he and renamed him/her/it Ike. But, wouldn't it seem more appropriate to stick with Tina AFTER the clipping had occured? I mean, the cat was probably more effeminate than ever post-snip. He probably had a higher meow and such, but whatever. Give it a girly name while it has balls, then remove the balls and toughen him up with a name like Ike. It's like the exact opposite of A Boy Named Sue.

This finding led to an interesting discussion though. Apparently there are places that will give dogs plastic testicles after the real ones are removed, so that they don't have poor self-esteem.

That's right, you heard me. People are worried that their doggies might be embarrassed and emasculated by not having balls. So they put plastic testicles inside so the animal won't notice the difference. Now don't you think, if we are taking these dogs, cutting their hair in all sorts of foofy fashions, putting bows on their cutsy-wootsy little heads, making them wear dresses and carrying them in our purses, that having plastic balls to lick is the LEAST of their emasculation worries? Come on people!! For pete's sake, it's a dog. I don't think this is a major issue of concern. He'll be fine.
